Heading Into Fall

I’m still not ready to let go of summer, let’s be real, in Florida can still have summer heat almost all year long and the beach is always open but in my garden I am willing to head into Fall. Fall Florida gardening means another chance to get my little vegetable garden happy again. I have plans to make a couple more raised beds and ideas on how to battle the weeds that overwhelmed me with my spring garden!

Fall is also the time that I can add any fruiting trees I have been oggling at during the summer months. The little night dip in temperature will really make a difference on their success rate, I’m coming for you nectarine and plum trees. I already have one sun home nectarine tree, planted in spring, and have my fingers crossed for fruit next year. It spent a lot of it’s energy growing a couple feet in a few months!

One of my favorite Fall crops is collard greens. I have had a patch of collards in my front bed for over a year now and it is so happy when the cold weather comes back. I am planning on starting some kales, collards, eggplants, and broccoli this year and can’t wait to share my trials here.
